We’ve combed a few cities and states to find out the average pay of barre instructors today to help determine if a barre certification is right for you.
As a group fitness instructor, it’s our job to help keep people motivated and encouraged along their fitness journey. A lot of us feel rewarded by watching clients become stronger, happier and healthier, but the monetary benefit can help decide if investing in a barre certification is worth it.
Pay Types
Instructors who have completed a barre certification are paid in different ways. Most are paid per class ranging from $15 to as high as $50. Experience level and region play a big role in determining where instructors fall within that range. Others are paid per participant meaning the more in the classroom, the higher the rate. In some instances, facilities will rent out their studio space for a flat fee or a percentage of sales collected, allowing the instructor the ability to determine class pricing and market accordingly. When using a pay per head or rental model, instructors are able to increase their hourly class rate to $100 or more based on attendance.

In our research, when combining all pay types, we found certified barre instructors across the United States earned an average* pay of $27 per class. This average varies slightly by region:
North East $30/class
South East $25/class
Mid-West $28/class
West $24/class
